Luxiona Group installs Paralum im at Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum
The luminaire has been customized with an illustration of the skyline of Abu Dhabi.
Barcelona, ??November 14th, 2017.- The Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, designed by the architect Jean Nouvel, opened its doors this weekend. The international company Luxiona Group has participated in the lighting of this project installing the Paralum luminaire. This system, designed by Jean Nouvel himself, is part of the series of collaborations that the architect has made for Troll, the technical lighting brand of Luxiona Group. On this occasion, the luminaire has been specially customized for the museum, including in its structure an illustration of the skyline of Abu Dhabi.

MILS (Medical Intelligent Lighting System)
LUXIONA Group presented at the exhibition trade fair Light Middle East Dubai for the first time the innovative MILS (Medical Intelligent Lighting System). MILS is an intelligent system based on operating rooms to illuminate through LED recessed luminaires and motorized ceiling that allows us to address precisely the light beam anywhere in the work area.
The system provides a high quality of light and frees up space greatly facilitating the work of surgeons in the operating room. It aims simply with the push of a remote control. Eliminates shadows, avoiding obstacles in the area and increases the efficiency of the operating area and energy consumption.
M.I.L.S allows to choose not only the right spot where to direct light, but also the direction from where you want to come in a very simple way: using a pointer that will never bother the surgeon’s work. It also has a set of cameras that evaluate real-time lighting levels on the operating table and intelligently regulate each of the heads of the system to eliminate shadows automatically and independently.

The luminaire blends into the ceiling of the operating room by a simple installation. Being light sources recessed ceiling pose no internal heat source in the operating room because most of the heat generated by the light is ejected in the false ceiling.
The usual way of work in operating rooms requires an overhead light on the operating table and one or two additional lamps that provide oblique light to avoid shadows on the field of view. Traditional systems introduced over the area of surgery bulky items that would normally interfere with the mobility of staff of the operating room and whose handling during surgery process is cumbersome. In contrast, M.I.L.S allows clearing all the space on the operating table and simplifies the orientation system of light on the operating table, both before starting operation and during the entire work process.
M.I.L.S is a luminaire based on LED lighting technology that provides higher quality than traditional operating room lamps and minimizing infrared radiation and ultraviolet light sources. Provides a high-quality lighting with an intensity of up to 160,000 lux with high color rendering that allows a better perception and evaluation of color (CRI> 95), and more comfortable for surgeons because it allows the use of color temperatures CCT> 4500 K which minimize eye fatigue of the surgeon during the working process.
„A new era of light technology has just started with our new MILS system. Trendsetting advantages of LED lighting will be combined with state of the art controller technology.“ – mentions Pawel Kramarz – Managing Director Luxiona GmbH
Benefits to the health centre or clinic Health centres need to improve their efficiency and adapt to the new rules and procedures that will gradually implemented in the health sector, and improve efficiency.
M.I.L.S allows a perfectly lit area of operations, better insulated, more functional and comfortable for the development of the activity. Improves efficiency of the health centre in functionality, maintenance and risk of infections, energy consumption and resource optimization.

Metalarte newsletter

Metalarte is evolving. We have entered a new era, with the same dedication to our vision and the application of the experience acquired during more than 80 years of our history as a brand. Looking to the future, but without losing sight of the achievements of the past, and once again celebrating the best of Spanish design. This is just a snapshot of the exciting things to come, a catalogue with a variety of textures and innovations, like the one we are presenting here: Alta Costura flags. It isn’t easy to find a completely new concept in the lighting market today. But, here is one.
Metalarte Flags Flags are designed to wave in the wind. In interiors spaces there are flags, but no wind. The flags become flaccid and lose much of their representative power. They don’t stand out. Metalarte offers a novel alternative, developed from one of our flagship models: the Alta Costura lamp designed in 1992 by Josep Aregall, a symbolic year for the city of Barcelona, host of all the world’s flags during the Olympics. Around the flagpole of this iconic design, a translucent sheet undulates gracefully, which now serves to support any flag or banner: countries, communities, cities, organizations, corporations, associations, clubs ... they never wrinkle and, what’s more, they provide light. Perfect for the newsroom, for institutional offices, for sports clubs, for the hall of a hotel or just to display with pride.
Metalarte is a decorative lighting brand within the Luxonia Group, which is defined by a vision that mixes the contemporary with the traditional and the capacity to constantly move forwards and adapt to changing times. Since its foundation in 1932, Metalarte has maintained a catalogue that balances the future and the past, with a clear focus on Spanish design and its creators.
Light is our reason to be. The development and delivery of the best integrated solutions for design, production and sales, adapting to the specific needs of every architectural Project. Through the TROLL, METALARTE and SAGELUX brands, LUXONIA provides a wide range of global solutions for technical, decorative and emergency lighting. Trust, security and flexibility are the foundation of our international success.

b720 Architects and LUXIONA work together to transform the corporate offices of the Abertis Group § The renowned architecture studio b720 Architects are renovating the Abertis Group’s new corporate HQ in Madrid § The lighting project created by LUXIONA is modernising and improving the work spaces and other key areas of the building b720 Arquitectos, led by Fermín Vázquez, have previously been responsible for emblematic urban projects like the Torre Agbar with Jean Nouvel, the Torres Porta Fira with Toyo Ito and the Ciudad de la Justicia de Barcelona alongside David Chipperfield. The studio’s most recent project is the complete renovation of the new corporate HQ of the Abertis Group, a company that specialises in management of transport infrastructure worldwide. The Project consists of the complete renovation of the Edificio Allianz, built in 1979 by the architect Carvajal Ferrer, now listed as a historic building by the Madrid city council. The project involved the complete substitution of the building’s curtain façade, the renovation of all the building’s installations and re-design of all the interior and exterior spaces, adapting them to contemporary usage in terms of comfort and functionality. FUNCIONALITY AND DESIGN
The lighting project created by LUXIONA for the whole building, with eight floors, ground floor and three-story subterranean car park, had a vital role in the architectural vision, while also satisfying standards in terms of heat efficiency, energy consumption and aesthetics. HARMONY AND FUNCTIONALITY THROUGH ILLUMINATION The building’s lobby is on the ground floor, a space decorated with a combination of white lacquered wood and a marble floor decorated with modern design elements. The minimalistic Flying Surface lights are perfectly integrated into the aesthetic concept of this key area of the building. These flat, rectangular fittings, which appear to be floating in space, are a poetic concept created by the French architect Jean Nouvel, author alongside b720 Architects, of the design of the Torre Agbar in Barcelona and the enlargement of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. In the exit areas on each floor, transition areas and services areas Brim LED downlights where installed, designed by artec3 Studio. In the open areas, the work spaces are illuminated by recessed Strip lighting integrated into false ceilings made of lacquered wood. Between the light strips, these slatted ceiling panels include air conditioning units, emergency lighting by Sagelux, an alarm system and fire safety and evacuation signage. "Both the client and the architects wanted a pleasantly lit environment without contrasts, as close to natural light as possible and suitable for working with computer screens," said JuanRamon Perez, LUXIONA’s lighting consultant. "To meet these requirements we used continuous lines that incorporate a diffuser of opal polycarbonate and Flying Surface lamps that have an exterior finish in fabric with the aim of providing a diffuse and uniform illumination across the work areas." CREDITS Architecture: b729 Arquitectos ABOUT LUXIONA: LUXIONA is a lighting group with an HQ in Barcelona and a wide international presence, incorporating the TROLL, METALARTE and SAGELUX brands. Brim down light system: symmetry in space
· LUXIONA has incorporated the Brim down light system with LED technology, designed by artec3 Studio, into its catalogue · Brim allows functional and design customization to easily adapt to commercial, hostelry, or even domestic spaces. LUXIONA has announced the incorporation of Brim down light LED technology into its wide range of commercial lighting products under the TROLL brand. Designed by artec3 Studio, the concept behind the Brim down light system is based on a careful study of proportions, both those of the product as well as the space in which it will be integrated. Depending on the characteristics and needs of the environment, Brim allows a full customization in terms of functionality and design for easy adaptation to all commercial, hostelry or domestic spaces. The innovative ‘truncated’ rings allow the formation of various down light clusters, combinations of outstanding beauty and harmony that invite creativity, the implementation of customised solutions and the creation of unique designs. The combination of the principle elements of the system provide the right solution for any architectural space, with diverse possibilities for installation: from full integration into false ceilings with the recessed version, up to the multiple possibilities offered by the combination of different lighting rings and cones. Furthermore, the chromatic variety offered by all the elements in the system allows the creation of beautiful design proposals. "The difference with the Brim down light system is its capacity to generate adaptable compositions,” says Maurici Ginés, lighting designerand founder of artec3 Studio. "The range offers a high flexibility for composition, using a precise optical design, excellent lighting performance, high visual comfort and outstanding efficiency, giving designers and lighting technicians the possibility to achieve the perfect solution for a wide range of applications”. LUXIONA lights up the MAPFRE Tower in Mexico
On Thursday November 7th 2013, Mexico City’s financial district will welcome a new symbol of progress and sustainability to its urban landscape.
Following its strategy of commitment, innovation and leadership, the insurance group MAPFRE inaugurates its new corporate offices in Mexico, with lighting design and implementation from the LUXIONA Group.
The insurance group MAPFRE is participating in the progress of Mexico with the construction of a new contemporary icon in the heart of the capital: a 124-metre smart building incorporating a LEED Certification, which is awarded to sustainable, high-performance buildings.
After investing 66 million dollars and almost 4 years of work, more than 450 employees have begun their move to MAPFRE Mexico’s headquarters, located at Paseo de la Reforma 243, in the heart of the country’s financial district.
SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
Designed by Colonnier y Asociados with a clear focus on sustainability, the MAPFRE Tower, at 124 metres and with 28 floors, is one of the tallest buildings in the country. The architecture, engineering, lighting and design details of the new building have been created to follow the concept of agile working, which aims to strengthen the standards and quality of the working environment.
“Among the criteria we focused on—said José Ramón Tomás Forés, CEO of MAPFRE Mexico during the inauguration—was the creation of open, spacious and luminous areas with easy circulation to encourage interaction between the different teams at MAPFRE, providing maximum flexibility for day-to-day operations in the office”.
“We also—he continued— aimed to establish a way of working that is more sustainable through a programme designed to reduce printing and improve waste management through the availability of dedicate d recycling points for organic materials, plastics and paper ".
CUTOMISED LIGHTING
For the general illumination of office areas, LUXIONA has designed an integrated and fully customised lighting system located in a false ceiling. LUXIONA’s lighting system has been designed to comply with the 500 lux standard in all work areas, providing a high degree of comfort and energy efficiency.
In all the meeting rooms, which are equipped with the latest communications technology, the auditorium and the various common spaces dedicated to culture and leisure, the brief was to create the highest level of wellbeing while optimizing energy consumption. To achieve this, the solutions provided have been based mainly on the implementation of LED lighting and smart systems to automatically detect and manage the presence and quality of light.
The building’s emergency lighting was created with the ÓPTIMA range from SAGELUX, a solution that fully integrates the light fittings into the wall space, combining minimalism and aesthetics with emergency signage functionality.
The CEO of MAPFRE Mexico, José Ramón Tomás Forés, noted in his inauguration address that "LUXIONA’s contribution to the lighting of our MAPFRE Tower was essential for the success of the project and we are delighted to have found a partner with the capacity to listen and understand our challenges, and then apply innovation to put the right solutions into practice”.
"We are proud and honoured to have been chosen by the MAPFRE Group to “light up” this marvellous, modern building which is destined to become one of the most iconic in Latin America" said Javier Tey, CEO of the LUXIONA Group.
